Asset Based Healing Centered Practice

A one-day conference of leading mental health influencers and practitioners sharing the latest learning from innovative organisations across the globe as they increasingly shift from harm management to focusing on people’s strengths to achieve real and deep healing.

Role of the Conference:

The conference with examine the latest thinking from around the world and challenge the thinking people cannot change. Presenting learning that breaks the hold of the harm management model and provides a paradigm shift to strength-based healing and community driven recovery.

Covering the emerging practices as well as the institutional management of change and measuring impact as these different approaches redefine the types of support, nature of provider organisations and the relationships between them and the integration with community driven organisations.

Who should attend?

Suitable for those with real life experience and challenges as well as addiction, mental health and criminology professionals in the public and third sectors with a focus on innovation, best practice and policy development.

Why attend?

For professionals it provides a potent mix of evidence based insight and thought leader insight whilst also providing an opportunity to hear from those with direct personal experiences and explore the challenges from both service provider and individual perspectives.

Format of the day

Conference welcome by Ralph Peake, Member of House of Keys,Isle of Man Government

Ralph is chairman of Quing and in 2019, voted ‘politician of the year’ in London when DB Recovery and McLean Hospital are to presented him with a ’deconstructing stigma award’, billed as the Oscars that celebrate the unsung stars in the field of addiction treatment and recovery.

The morning combines main rooms talks and panels with specialist sessions in break out rooms looking at topics particularly of interest to the professionals. Key speakers will also be available throughout the afternoon for professionals to network with.

The afternoon increasing focuses on the real-life experience of both those with lived experience and those who work with and support them.

Incuding talks from those with lived experience and peer mentors will provide practical and supportive insight .

Professor David Best

Professor David Best is professor of criminology at the university of Derby, leading research into work on desistance from offending, recovery capital and pathways to addiction recovery.

An internationally acclaimed session musician and player of Fender Precision Bass guitars & ex addict.
